Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
It was a foul throw, one that was always given as a kid and is never given now.

I don’t care too, I hope that makes them cry even more about it.

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
I just read that Law 15 on the FA website. As the OP says there is nothing about where the ball should be released, or what direction it should be travelling in (e.g. horizontal or above).

I was also surprised there was no mention of where the throw-in should be taken from other than on or behind the touchline. I've always assumed it should be at or near the point it went out of play, or is it up to the descretion of the referee?

Perhaps it's intended to be simple but that shouldn't mean there is room for ambiguity. Is there a more comprehensive version of the rules somewhere?

Just watched it again and it definitely wasn't a foul throw, I listened very carefully and the referee didn't blow for one :)

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
This is why I usually watch with the sound down. That tosser of a commentator must have shouted out three times that he thought it looked like a foul throw. Even Glenn Hoddle seemed embarrassed by him.

His foot was off the floor at rhe time he threw it. so it was a foul throw.

Who actually gives a flying fuck though?

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
Typical example of how bollocks football has become. Who gives a fuck if the balls 90 degrees over ya fucking head, behind your head whatever. If it looks like a throw in it’s a throw in. The game needs to go back to basics and become simple again

Quality goal disputed because a throw in is deemed to be a fraction out !? DO FUCK OFF !!!

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
Fuck me, there are West Ham fans from all over the shop.

And I've no problem with that. Let's face it, they can't be glory-hunters.

In the old days, at least, West Ham stood for trying to play attractive football in the right way. Pulling in the right kind of supporter from Land's End to John O'Groats.

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
There are plenty of ways of taking a throw which looks "wrong", but isn't actually a foul throw.

For instance, the "spike" where your feet are right, the throw starts behind your head, but you delay release until the ball is being thrown at the ground.

You won't get away with that with non-professional officials, but there's nothing in the rules about doing this. Mind you, a lot of professional officials don't like it either.

Another is throwing the ball at the back of an opponent. If it's not done in a violent manner, it's legal.

I haven't watched it again yet but I hope it was just to wind them up even more.

Good for you Chiggers, put some of these cynical cunts straight. :-)

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
For those of you questioning my loyalties because I happened to grow up in Chigwell: after the 66 World Cup win by the Hammers, Bobby Moore moved his family into a house a quarter mile from where I lived, and Geoff Hurst a half mile away. They both sent their children to the nursery school owned by my mother, where as a 13 year old I met them both. I don't think that they were Spurs fans. My Dad taught at East Ham Grammar where one of his pupils was Ronnie Boyce, who scored the winning goal in the 64 Cup Final. The son of the woman who helped my Mum was a classmate of Trevor Brooking. In any case, Chigwell is in Essex, and West Ham is the Essex team. Spurs moved their training ground there decades after I moved away, possibly hoping that some Essex talent would rub off on them.

Love all the brain dead cunts piling on Chigwell without noticing that he's saying the ref made the right call. Its only one paragraph for fuck's sake, would it kill you to read and comprehend it all. Mongs.

You would think that the officials would be wise to it by now but obviously not.

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
ted fenton 8:22 Thu Sep 1 - that guy for forest or brighton game was doing exactly the same > I was getting very annoyed .. foul throw...

Think they should find a way to stop the long throws into the box.

Jasnik 8:28 Thu Sep 1
Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
he's thrown it "down" right in front of him which would be a foul throw. - exactly... but none get called except on my Sunday football with the refs who call the easy things.

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
Haha ted that’s brilliant. Interesting from a physics/biomechanics point of view that you can throw further with one hand than two

ted fenton 8:22 Thu Sep 1
Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
I got away with releasing the ball with just my right hand which gives you extra length and was never pulled up for it ...people couldn't understand have far I threw the ball.

It does work try it ;-)

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
I've been a ref for 20 years at grassroots.

I've slowed down the video and 100% it starts from behind his head, it doesn't have to start all the way back from your neck. So that's fine.

The ball travels around 3 or 4 metres before bouncing. A very harsh interpretation of the rules would be that he's thrown it "down" right in front of him which would be a foul throw. That's at the referee's discretion but no-one ever gives those that are a grey area.

So yes the ref got it right.

Re: Coufal - foul throw or not?
Ol Chiggers uses the words: "I think the ref got it right"

Not sure how he can be accused of being one of that lot with a view like that.
